An Opinion on Everything in Your Life - Claire Stimpson

It was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend 2020. I was 28 weeks pregnant with our third child. My husband, Frederick, was supposed to be on a deep-sea fishing trip. The day before, he had to cancel going on the trip due to several things coming up at work. So, we decided last minute that we would stay in town for the weekend.

Friday afternoon, I didn’t feel well and called my doctor. She asked me to come in so they could do a quick check before the weekend. Things changed quickly!!


I was sent to USA Children’s and Women’s where they intended to keep me on bed rest for the next 6 weeks. However, the next day, our third boy came into the world at 28 weeks 5 days old. To see his tiny fingernails, his knees, every part of him that God had so perfectly knit together.


We were so fortunate to have incredible men and women praying for us and our baby. During those first few days in the hospital, Frederick and I felt so filled with peace, strengthened and joyful. It was beyond understanding - it was as if the prayers being prayed on our behalf were literally elevating us to another place – above the brokenness and heartache.


I remember one of the first doctor’s reports we received, we were discouraged. Later, I heard that still, small whisper “Claire, ask Me what My Word is concerning that thing….”


“Ask me what My Word is over this child, over this doctor’s report, over this decision.”


“I have an opinion about everything in your life – I want you to begin to see things from the perspective of Heaven – the more time you spend in my presence, the easier it will be to see from My Perspective. There is nothing impossible for Me. Do you truly believe this?”


Since then, there have been many times I have had to revisit those words The Holy Spirit put on my heart, to remind myself of His faithfulness, to consider the miracles He has performed, to encourage myself in the power of prayer and the joy of communing with Him.

One thing I know for sure, He cares about the details of your life and my life, and He has something to say on the matter.


For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21


Claire grew up in Montgomery, Alabama and has lived in Mobile since she and her husband Frederick have been married for eight years. Together they have three boys.
