Be Fruitful and Multiply - D'Ambro Chatman

My wife and I never thought we would be the couple dealing with pregnancy issues, but over time, it became clear that we needed to consult a doctor. We learned that my wife had a specific condition that was delaying our hope for a child. Though we prayed for remedy, it seemed that the Lord wanted us to wait a little longer.

Over a year passed and we still were not pregnant. Doubts began to rise. But God brought encouragement. While attending a Church service, a Prophet at the church called us to the front and told us the baby was coming and that God had not forgotten us.

This happened four times with four different Prophets. One was unknown to us, and we were unknown to him. It was clear that the Lord was communicating to us to keep trusting him.

One day, while I was praying, the Lord spoke and directed that I read in the book of Genesis the passage in which God commanded, “Let there be light, and there was light.” I thought to myself, “What does that have to do with pregnancy?” I was directed to read further. In the same passage, the Lord said, “. . . be fruitful and multiply.” Just as there was light at his command, so will there be children. I believe God affirmed his promise of a child that day.

I was excited and shared with my wife what I had experienced. I assured her that no matter what happened, I would never stop loving her and that we would never stop trusting God. One morning not long after, my wife woke me up early. She was crying and screaming. “Babe! The test is positive . . . It says I’m pregnant!”

It had been twenty-one months of prayer and hope when the Lord allowed his promise to occur. Over those months, my walk with God strengthened. He taught me how to pray using the scripture. Indeed, God’s Word is true, and His promises are sure.

Numbers 23:19

God is not a man, that He would lie, nor a son of man, that He would change His mind; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
