The "Heart" of Mobile -- The downtown area and a one-mile radius around it is truly the heart of Mobile. It is the center of our history, both good and bad. It is the place of the original population. It is the place of the first houses of worship. It is the place of the first public school. It is the seat of city and county government. It is the place of federal government representation. It is the center of corporate economic generators. It holds an international seaport. It is the intersection of major sea, air, and land routes. And it is a place of community interaction for business and entertainment.

Three downtown parks symbolize the heart of our city.

Cathedral Park represents the spiritual journey of a community of people and our ongoing responsibility to honor the name of Jesus in every aspect of our existence as a city.

Bienville Park represents the history and future of Mobile and our ongoing responsibility to ensure the welfare of each member of this community in the grace and mercy of God.

Mardi Gras Park represents the current culture of our community and our ongoing responsibility to influence that culture with the love, nature, and promise of Jesus.

Here is the perfect prayer for the Heart of our city . . .

Our Father in heaven,

May your name be kept holy.

May your Kingdom come soon.

May your will be done on earth,  as it is in heaven.

Give us today the food we need,

And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.

And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

Matthew 6:9-13
