The Watch
On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves . . . Isaiah 62:6
The Shalom Project assembles a voluntary group of community members to pray for good government among us. The Watch is a special addition to the Project. We have divided our region into five sectors. It is likely that your home, business, church, or a place of special interest to you is within one of the five sectors.
As part of our broader prayer work, we seek a few individuals directed by the Holy Spirit to the role of Watchmen in each sector.
The qualifications are simple . . . a follower of Jesus, mature in the faith, alert, experienced in the Spirit, practiced in prayer, responsible to position. (If you need a refresh on what "position" means, click here and listen.)
Here is the job . . .

Stay in position! Watch and pray for the Lord's protection of all He desires to do around you. Also, pray for your wisdom and discernment.

Remain vigilant and attentive to needs in your neighborhood or around your place of work.

Actively cover the area with prayer. The Holy Sprit will guide you.

At awareness of need, seek additional prayer from friends. Ask the Lord to direct action. There will be times you can help and times that are beyond your ability to help. When in doubt, call for outside help (friend, pastor, 311, 911). Withdraw to safety and pray.

Scripture reminds, " . . . we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Ephesians 6:12, 18
